Funklordz Chromeo Fit to Funk at Float Fest

Chromeo is Bringing the Funk

Outrageous in the best of ways, Canadian electro-funk duo Chromeo embodies excess to a T. With an eccentric flare only they can own, David “Dave 1” Macklovitch (guitar and lead vocals) and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel (keyboard, synth, and bass) delicately balance 80’s beats, synth melodies, and playfully provocative lyrics on sexy stilettos – literally (see above pic). The result? A set-list reminiscent of neon-draped discotheques that’s welcome anywhere there’s a party brewing.

Somewhere at the intersection of audacious and absurd, silly and sexy, Chromeo quietly ushered 80’s dance into modern age with their 2004 debut She’s in Control, gained traction with some Fancy Footwork in 2007, and turned heads with 2014’s White Women featuring hits like “Over Your Shoulder,” and “Old 45’s.”

They’ve performed at Bonnaroo, ACL, and most recently SXSW, but this summer we’re calling all sexy socialites to the Cool River Ranch and bringing funk to the float for an unprecedented wet’n’wild Texas dance party. Expect Dave 1 to strut the stage busting flashy dance moves, while P-Thugg – always the composed funkmaster – holds down the beat behind the keys. Come July, don’t be jealous you weren’t groovin’ with Chromeo on the Ranch.
