2016 Internship Program

 

KICK ASS INTERNS PLEASE.

Float Fest loves students. We love y’all so much, we want you to help. We are starting the 2016 Internship Program. All we want is someone who is hard working and willing to learn. That is the priority. These internships will run until the end of the summer, but we need you to get started right away! You will have opportunities to work with the Festival’s directors, and set your own schedule. We want you to have fun, and learn stuff. Important stuff. The two positions available right now are for the Artist Relations Intern, and then we will need two people for the Content Management Internship. These internships are limited to students of The University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University, St. Edwards University, and Austin Community College.

ARTIST RELATIONS INTERN

Float Fest is seeking a creative and motivated Artist Relations Intern to assist the Festival Director with coordinating booking, artist hospitality, artist buys, and special projects with performing artists for ten mutually agreed upon weeks between February 15th to August 1st.

Hours:
10-20 hours per week for Spring/Summer of 2015 (February – August).

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship position. Must be for college credit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help Arrange for artists’ travel, hospitality and venue credentials
  • Provide event support at post-show Artist Meet & Greets
  • In addition to administrative duties, the Artist Relations Intern will have front-of-house duties
  • Assist Festival Director in day-to-day tasks
  • Work around tight deadlines
  • Basically, be an all around rockstar!

Qualifications:

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekend of the festival (July 16th – July 18th)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in cash-handling and merchandise-related areas
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential
  • Knowledge of Google for Business and Microsoft Office

CONTENT MANAGEMENT INTERNS (2)

Your Responsibilities:

You will work with our Digital Marketing Strategist and Social Media Expert to implement our marketing plans — including blogging, news releases, email newsletters, and social media campaigns. You will be responsible for developing engaging content for the web and printed marketing materials, with a focus on maintaining The Float Fest blog.

Hours:
10-20 hours per week for Spring/Summer of 2015 (February – August).

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship position. Must be for college credit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creative writing and excellent grammatical skills (this will be a writing-focused internship)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of social media and online marketing a plus
  • Passion for marketing and online technology

Qualifications:

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekend of the festival (July 16th – July 18th)
  • An exceptional writer who excels at creating dynamic content pieces
  • A fast learner who independently seeks out knowledge
  • Driven to set high goals and succeed
  • Someone who uses creativity to solve problems
  • A perfectionist who takes pride in a job well done
